Frequently Asked Questions

How do the warmers work?

HotHands® warmers are made from natural materials including iron powder, water, salt, activated charcoal and vermiculite. Once removed from the specially designed outer package and exposed to air, a rusting process is generated thereby building heat.

Are the hand and foot warmers interchangeable?

No, they are not. Even though they have the same ingredients the mixture is different. The foot warmer is designed to operate in low oxygen environments while the hand warmers work better in an oxygen rich environment.

Is the warmer reusable?

Warmers can be reused, but only for the total advertised time. If you use a body warmer for only a few hours, it should last 18 hours by putting it in a zip lock bag. Be sure to remove all the air from the bag before sealing it. When needed again, just remove the warmer from the airtight bag and it will reactivate itself. You probably won’t get the total 18 hours out of it, but it should be close.

How long should I leave warmers out of the pack before using?

Once you remove the warmers from the sealed package shake them gently. Leave them exposed to the air for about 10 minutes before using them in shoes, pockets, mittens, etc.

What is the difference between foot warmer and toe warmer?

The foot warmer has a rectangular shape and is designed to fit in the pocket sewn on the specially designed heated socks. The toe warmer has adhesive on one side so they will stick to your socks inside the shoe.
